Tupperware Smart Steamer in new green color

Unusual but effective
Saw this on the Dr. Oz TV show. Normally I use a basket to steam veggies in a copper bottomed pot on the stove.

On this product, the bottom only allows microwaves in. The big and small baskets and the top don't. Both baskets have holes in them. You put water in the bottom up to a line then pile the one and/or two baskets on top and add the lid. The microwaves heat the water on the bottom and the steam cooks the items in the baskets.

Very easy to clean. Can rinse out or put in dishwasher. It is expensive but looks like it will last quite awhile.

Food can be quite hot so it is recommended you leave in microwave for @5 minutes to let it continue cooking and cool down. Otherwise when you remove the top, a lot of really hot steam is emitted.

It comes with a chart showing best times per food item. Longest time on a single fill up of water is 25 minutes but most anything will be cooked between 10 and 17 minutes.

Nice touch is that...

THIS TUPPERWARE MICROWAVE SMART STEAMER IS WORTH BUYING!
I saw this on Dr. Oz's favorite things show. He said it cooked by heating the water, which steams the food, that the food itself is not hit with the microwave waves. That sounded good, because microwaves boil food from the inside out and depend on moisture content to cook. Thus, it can leave food dried out and rubbery.

When it first arrived, I noticed it was quite heavy and there were a few parts to it. I thought I may not keep it, as I like simple things. But, after trying it, I'm sold! I cooked some cauliflower, which I never eat, because I don't have a steamer. it turned out perfect! I put it in 7 minutes. You can experiment with the time. I'm going to be buying a lot of cabbage, beets, broccoli, etc..., all the things I'd given up eating due to not having an easy, quick method of cooking them.

I've not had a steamer for a couple years now. I've tried a silicone one, but they are messy, take a lot of time, and are hard to find pans to fit them on...

Nice Steamer
Pretty nice steamer. The extra steamer tray doesn't hold very much. Takes longer to steam vegetables than the Zip Lock steamer bags that I was previously using. I think I will like it more once I have used it longer. Still in learning mode as times given in directions are not that accurate.
