RUSTING AFTER FIRST USE
I have other pans by Chicago Metallic - even pans with the folded edges (mini-loaf pans) - so I was not too concerned when I purchased this. Sadly, this pan is headed for the trash can because it's just not worth it.
I made a batch of brownies using this pans and washed it right away. To dry completely, I placed in pan in a warm oven like I've done with my other pans.
Everything looked good until I pulled out the pan to use this weekend - rust was seeping through the folds. Time to toss this.
Appears Perfect except...
The problem I have with this pan is it rusts in the corners where the seams are no matter what I do. I have to line it with foil in order to use.
Have always loved this pan!
I have previously had this pan for years and finally decided it was time for a new one. It is so good at cooking things evenly and has been my 'go to' pan for so long, I decided I would replace the original with two new ones.
Before I looked on Amazon for them, I looked locally and couldn't find them anymore and tried to buy and use the nicest pans I could find at Target and other stores. I was sorely disappointed! I guess I didn't realize how long I've been spoiled with the quality of this pan.
The only reason I didn't give this pan five stars is because it isn't coated, you have to be careful about how you clean it and dry it. You cannot soak this pan for a long time without causing the pan to rust or the finish to degrade. That is the trade-off that I have agreed to though as I prefer the health benefits of having a pan without any coating.
